Before diving in the water, always check that the crown is inserted, as some models allow the crown to be inserted inside the watch case. Also, never handle the crown or controls under water or when the watch is wet. The crown and buttons are where water resistance most often breaks.

Attention should also be paid to sudden temperature changes, which are not good for the watch. As a result of temperature changes, the seal may break, thus creating a space through which water can enter the watch. It is therefore better to take off your watch before visiting the sauna. At the same time, it's important to mention that it's not a good idea to put your watch in a hot tub. This is because there is extremely hot water in the hot tub, which reduces the effectiveness of the seal. And at the same time, the pressure of the nozzles is so great that it often corresponds to the values for submersion to a depth of several meters.

Pay extra care to the watch also after soaking it in salt water. This is extremely aggressive, so it is very advisable to rinse the watch with fresh water afterwards. Similar to how you shower yourself after swimming in the sea.

To maintain waterproofness, it is advisable to carry out a waterproof test and a pressure test every one to two years. The watch also needs to be checked after any service, such as changing the battery. The waterproofness of the watch is tested using the dry or wet method, or a combination thereof, using special devices.
