In 2013, Jake Kassan and Kramer Laplante launched the MVMT brand. Their goal is to disrupt the overpriced and outdated models of the fashion industry. In the words of the founders, "The original line of watches, which people have boosted through crowdfunding (group funding with a smaller amount), has set us apart in that the MVMT brand delivers very high quality watches at radically fair prices. Primarily through social media, we have grown far beyond our Los Angeles location and have become a global community of 1.5 million MVMT owners. Our inspiration is go-getters, innovators and dreamers. Our designs have the spirit of these exact people. They are built on adventure, desire, creation and the courage to disrupt the norm." The company is also involved in the manufacture of eyewear and jewellery.
