Seiko 6R35 Movement: Functions, History, and Interesting Facts
The Seiko 6R35 is a modern mechanical movement that serves as the direct successor to the popular 6R15 caliber. It brings several key improvements, most notably a significantly longer power reserve, placing it among the top mid-range movements from Seiko. Thanks to its reliability and high specifications, it quickly became the standard for many of Seiko’s newer models.
History of the Seiko 6R35 Movement
The 6R35 caliber was officially introduced in 2019 as an upgrade to the existing 6R15. Seiko responded to the growing demand for longer power reserves, which has become increasingly important in the watchmaking world. The movement retains all the proven features of the 6R15 but adds a mainspring made of Spron 510 alloy, enabling much longer endurance. The 6R35 quickly became the new base for collections like Presage, Prospex, and others, offering an excellent balance of price, performance, and durability.

Interesting Facts
The 6R35 quickly earned a reputation as a modern and reliable movement for Seiko’s mid-range watches. The longer power reserve allows the wearer to leave the watch aside for an entire weekend without needing to reset it, which is a significant advantage for everyday use. The mechanism is considered durable and easy to service, making it popular among both watchmakers and customers. Many new models that previously used the 6R15 have switched to the 6R35 to offer more modern technology without a significant increase in price. Some versions of the 6R35 feature a decorated rotor or a see-through case back, allowing a view of the movement’s operation.
The Seiko 6R35 confirms the brand’s ability to keep pace with modern watchmaking trends while offering quality and reliability at an affordable price.
